Our Immigration Issues, who’s fault is it?

Posted by italco on October 28, 2010

When the industrial revolution first came to America, our Corporations went to Africa and brought their labor force to America through slavery. We forced them to come to America.

When slavery was abolished, corporations turned to (legal) immigrants coming here from other countries (give us your poor) for general labor. We asked them to come to America!

When unions stood up for the rights of the workers, Corporations turned to Undocumented workers for general labor. We ignored our laws and encouraged them to come.

Now that American Corporations can farm out their labor to other countries like China, Americans are left sitting here with limited labor jobs and an influx of undocumented workers. Disposable labor force?

Corporate America created this problem due to their need for profit, damn the rest of us!!

Coffee Party vs Tea Party Debate?

Posted by italco on July 26, 2010

Annabel Park of the Coffee Party is challenging Sarah Palin of the Tea Party to a debate! Proceeds to benefit victims in the Gulf!! http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=106031572784669&ref=mf

“Roger Ebert thinks Annabel Park of the Coffee Party “should be “in conversation w/ Sarah Palin.”

Annabel Park says “Actually, I’d like to debate her. The debate can be a fundraiser for the victims of the Gulf Oil Spill and 99ers (unemployed for over 99 weeks, not covered by the benefit extension). What do you say, Sarah?””

Can You Say “Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor”?

Posted by italco on July 1, 2010

“President Obama said Thursday that the U.S. immigration system “offends our most basic American values” and blamed Republican opposition for thwarting crucially needed change.
It was the third time in as many days that Obama singled out Republicans as an obstructionist force, blaming them in his earlier appearances for defending oil giant BP in the aftermath of the Gulf Coast oil spill and for opposing stronger financial regulatory legislation.

The president’s remarks this week represented the clearest preview yet of the message the White House intends to highlight in this year’s midterm election: Republicans’ stubborn refusal to help solve national problems.” http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-obama-immigration-20100702,0,6120193.story

Back in January of this year, I wrote an article called “2010 In Da House” https://italco.wordpress.com/2010/01/02/2010-in-da-house/

The article describes the hispanic and minority vote effect on the 2010 elections. It also factors in the influence Sarah Palin would have on the outcome. It will be interesting to see if these factors hold true….

If only Utah had strong Democrat Candidates that could reach out to their minority voters and hear their side of the “Immigration Reform Bill”.

Can they forgive the GOP for their party line “NO” vote against Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor?

Don’t take their vote for granted!!

Tax Payers Off Hook 4 Oil Spill

Posted by italco on June 16, 2010

The Obama administration and BP reached an agreement Wednesday under which the company will place $20 billion in an escrow account to pay damage claims resulting from the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

The company, whose chairman announced Wednesday that it would not pay dividends to shareholders for the rest of the year, will also contribute $100 million to a fund that supports unemployed oil workers.

Speaking to reporters in the State Dining Room of the White House, President Obama called the agreement “a good start” that will reassure “the people and small businesses I was talking to in the Gulf that BP will meet its responsibilities.”

“I’m absolutely confident BP will be able to meet its obligations to the Gulf Coast and to the American people,” Obama said. “BP is a strong and viable company and it is in all our interests that it remains so. This is about accountability. At the end of the day, that’s what every American wants and expects.” http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/06/16/AR2010061602614.html?hpid%3Dtopnews&sub=AR

Thank you President Obama. Your efforts are very much appreciated. This is very good news.

Oil Slick in Utah?

Posted by italco on June 13, 2010

“A leak from Chevron’s underground oil pipeline may have gone undetected for hours as it spilled 50 gallons of crude a minute Saturday into Salt Lake City’s Red Butte Creek.

The oil blackened the east-side creek, stained scores of birds, prompted the closure of Liberty Park and sent oil as far west as the Jordan River.” http://www.sltrib.com/news/ci_15284499?source=rv

We now have a “Land vs Water” Oil spill disaster for the oil companies to be proud of and compare data. I will say, we had a much better response to this pipe line break.

I am finally convinced that our dependancy on oil needs to end. Too bad it took two major spills to get me there.

How many spills will it take for the rest of the country to get on board?

I only pray we find no corruption issues related to this spill….

“Tories to Obama: Bugger off” WTF?

Posted by italco on June 11, 2010

This is what greed and corruption looks like…..

“It seems the conservatives in Britain are not amused at the Americans’ criticism of BP, and particularly Obama’s. Former Conservative chairman Lord Tebbit judged Obama to be “despicable.”

Here in America, where BP’s oil has wrecked the Gulf Coast and caused ecological and financial calamity, we have a word for people like Lord Tebbit: wanker.”

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/roughsketch/2010/06/goat_spears_rep_weiner_bushs_i.html

This is the direct result of “corruption”. BP paid our government agency to look the other way and our “Fellow Americans” took their money and allowed the Gulf of Mexico to become an Oil Slick…SHAME ON YOU!!

As for any Britain who thinks we are being to hard on BP…Quit hidding from your responsiblities…accept fault and help us get it fixed!! This is what happens when you are un-ethical and corrupt.

As for our Government agency who accepted their gifts and cash…you bear 50% of the blame….I hope they prosecute you to the full extent of the law. This attitude of “entitlement” needs to stop!

Update:

BP chief Tony Hayward sold shares weeks before oil spill!

Ethics Committee – Guardian Of Our Law Makers?

Posted by italco on February 27, 2010

The House ethics committee ruled Friday that seven lawmakers who steered hundreds of millions of dollars in largely no-bid contracts to clients of a lobbying firm had not violated any rules or laws by also collecting large campaign donations from those contractors. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/02/26/AR2010022602864.html?wpisrc=nl_headline

The Law Maker becomes the guardian of industry and their Ethics Committee’s become guardians of the Law Makers.

Who is the guardian of the citizen?

I always believed it was suppose to be the representatives we voted into office.

They all seem to be bought and paid for and shifted their loyalty to the industry.

It is time to change that!!

Vote Them ALL Out – Senator “Beats The Drum”

Posted by italco on February 16, 2010

Sen. Evan Bayh declared the American political system “dysfunctional,” riddled with “brain-dead partisanship” and permanent campaigning.

Bayh argued that the American people needed to deliver a “shock” to Congress by voting incumbents out en masse and replacing them with people interested in reforming the process and governing for the good of the people, rather than deep-pocketed special-interest groups. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ynews/ynews_ts1134

I am proud of you Senator Bayh. It is about time a politician puts his/her country before their own political ambition. He is exactly correct and what we need.

We need to vote for reform in congress…not the rhetoric and obstructionism from the right or the left…we need “REFORM”…Ethics Reform and Term Limits.

Beat The Drum and use our vote to make them put their country first!!
