“Happy 4th Of July”

Posted by italco on July 4, 2009

4th

Over the centuries, there have been many great Americans who share in the honor and glory of our freedom.  I wish “ALL” Americans a happy 4th of July.

I would like to pay a special tribute to the Military personnel who are serving our country right now and can not be home with their families on America’s Independence Day!

Thank You!!

Thanks to all our Military personnel (serving now, future, and past) for the freedom and liberties me and my family take for granted on a daily basis. May you and your families be blessed for your sacrifice!!

Very nice thoughts and post. Not to detract or spoil the sentiment I ask the thinkers here: healthcare plan, bailouts and debt. Will independence be threatened ?

Thanks for commenting Alfie. If you look at heathcare both private and public and see the greed of the private insurance companies driving up the cost then you might be open to seeing how a public option would counter the cost.

Take Bailouts and view them as investments instead of bailouts. Many of our large corporations got caught up in the greed and mismanagement of our country. Many executives became rich at the cost of everyone else and to the demise of the very corporations they managed. To save those corporations, our government had to step in and purchase stocks to keep the corporations from failing. That process was also met with greed as politicians, exectutives, and lobbyist clamored at the billions being offered to help. Investigations are being conducted. The IRS and HomeLand Security are looking into offshore banks (52,000) americans hiding money from the government. We don’t know if these investments will pay off….the success of those corporations who required being invested in will determine the outcome of the investment/bailout. Time will tell.

Our debt is a result of the unethical theft and mismanagement of our country by the past administration. We need to look at how the money was spent, with absolutely no oversight, throughout every government agency.

Money was wasted and stolen in a war we had no business being in, the mismanagement of the katrina disaster, and every other natural disaster the previous administration delt with. Now we are digging a deeper hole to get out of the last hole we were put in (due to theft and mis-management) and can only trust our country will be better managed and the investments will pay off.

The biggest difference I see between this administration and the previous administration, is ETHICS. I don’t see the Obama Administration lining their pockets or the pockets of their friends with no bid contracts. Money is being spent to “help” and not being thrown to the wolves. I actually see oversight and accountability….again, time will tell. If it don’t work, then we will be forced to try something else.

To help, We The People, need to end coruption in congress. Now that we have an ethical Whitehouse, we need an ethical congress to make it all work. That is on us. We need to look at those who have accepted gifts in exchange for votes and those who are invested in the very corporations they govern. We need to vote out the un-ethical government members and vote in others who will bring ethics back into our government. 2010 is our chance to do that. 88% of congress is up for re-election and we all need to beat the drum and get rid of these un-ethical members of congress (both sides of the aisle).

This is my favorite holiday. Politics aside, we are all Americans even if our political beliefs differ. To another year of Independence!!
