End Corruption In Congress! “Beat The Drum”

Posted by italco on May 14, 2009

“Beat The Drum”

It is time to end corruption in government!

How can “We The People” make a difference?

First, We need to demand that accepting gifts is an not an acceptable practice. This is where corruption starts. We must end the practice of accepting gratuities as common place in congress and our government agencies.

Then, We need to vote wisely in 2010, pick the candidate based on ethics not on just their moral values.

Open secrets is a web sight that will let you view any and all contributions received from any politician in congress. Go here and research those you will be voting for in the up coming 2010 elections

Another great website is “Congress Merge”. This website allows you to click on your state and view the contact info on any candidate that is up for re-election, their phone numbers, and their voting history this is an absolute must when making an informed decision on the candidates in your voting area. Another resource sent in by blogger ( Ann Nonomus) is an excellent tool in canidate research.

We can get involved in our Party!! Go to your party website and help them out. / /or any one of the political parties that participated in the 2008 election

We can also, Demand our ethics laws to be enforced;

Beat The Drum…lets force them to be ethical.

                      Subpart G_Misuse of Position
Sec. 2635.702  Use of public office for private gain.
An employee shall not use his public office for his own private gain, for the endorsement of any product, service or enterprise, or for the private gain of friends, relatives, or persons with whom the
employee is affiliated in a nongovernmental capacity, including nonprofit organizations of which the employee is an officer or member, and persons with whom the employee has or seeks employment or business relations. The specific prohibitions set forth in paragraphs (a) through (d) of this section apply this general standard, but are not intended to
be exclusive or to limit the application of this section.
    (a) Inducement or coercion of benefits. An employee shall not use or permit the use of his Government position or title or any authority associated with his public office in a manner that is intended to coerce or induce another person, including a subordinate, to provide any benefit, financial or otherwise, to himself or to friends, relatives, or persons with whom the employee is affiliated in a nongovernmental capacity.

Corruption isn’t going away on it’s own, Demand ethics reform in Congress!!

The sweet thing is, once you go into the links, they are very user friendly and make your research easy. The link Ann Nonomus supplied will tell you exactly who is in your voting district. Then the other two links will give you all the info you need. Once we find out who is running against them I will provide links to find info on them.

Also, You should really check out J.Ruth Kelly’s blog (on my friends list). She and her friends are like minded as us…very nice. One of her friends is High Mountian Musing and is from your neck of the woods…lol. Thanks for stopping by.

Thank you Ruth, I am honored. You have a very inspiring blog and I recommend anyone reading this comment to visit.

  4. Thanks again for all the info. italco. I need to spend more time on researching my state officials instead of this addictive blogging stuff!! 😉

Hello my friend YNB. I wouldn’t worry too much about it right now. All the info you need is right here. Just be sure to copy the links so you have your resources when the time comes to vote. For me, it is a mood thing. Most people, including myself, won’t get to involved until a few months before election time…I just like to throw out reminders of the seriousness of this election since it is not about electing a president and to remind the far right to try to get along with other republicans before it is too late and they have to go another 2 years with no vote in congress…my real hope is the gift giving and accepting is given a bad name and the common place practice is stopped.

Please pass this information along to every political person you know. It is an informational post and has key links that will help all of us fight corruption in congress.

88% of congress is being elected or re-elected. Thats 435+ House Of Representatives (all of them) and 36 Senators. Afer the mess they made the past 8 years, do we want them back?

Now we can check them out, see their actual voting records and campaign contributors. These encumbants have a lot of explaining to do. Pass this info along and help “Beat The Drum” against corruption!
